Myanmar, Burma
There are so many places in the world needing help. Every other month we see a news report about some new natural disaster or war zone. As I was thinking about setting up This is Love the TV reports were about the plight of the people of Myanmar,Burma. Not only were the people hit by a terrible cyclone but we learned how they are also under the thumb of a regime which denied them the help which the rest of the world offered.
Burma is ruled by one of the most brutal military dictatorships in the world; a dictatorship charged by the United Nations with crime against humanityfor its systematic abuses of human rights, and condemned internationally for refusing to transfer power to the legally elected Government of the country the party led by Nobel Peace Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi.
This is Love merchandise supports the Burma Campaign UK in its work to get political change.(Click the logo above to open the Burma campaign website). It campaigns to increaseeconomic pressure on the regime by discouraging investment and tourism, and lobbies the UK government and the European Union to increase political pressure on the regime.
